The vividness of fabrics through their colour, shine, structure and feel has fascinated me since my early childhood. Richly coloured Asian batiks, ikats and tapestries that I grew up among laid a foundation for an interest in textures and artisanal textile techniques.

My favorite means of expression are used fabrics and fragments that are tainted with memory. These awaken personal, individual stories and at the same time allow an insight into their past. Not a reproduction of reality copied according to optical criteria, but transformed, condensed impressions are created from the processed material with yarns. Threads from thread curtains or gauze bandages form textile compositions by changing the surface structure and different sewing, application, or embroidery techniques with the sewing machine or by hand. Inner motives, emotions, current socially relevant topics and socio-critical questioning develop - sometimes with an ironic-critical view - through the long-lasting process of sewing over and layering on works with a sensual presence.
