The scholar Faust seeks the true meaning of life: "That I may detect the inmost force which binds the world, and guides its course"

The four large-format flags address the process of Faust's confrontation with the account of Creation and the term ‘logos’ used in ancient Greek (verses 1224-1237). Biblical quotations of Faust's terms are taken out of their context in constantly repeated handwriting. 

According to Genesis, the language of God is effective: "God spoke [...] and it was [...]." – The power of the word is expressed.
